As South Korea managed an astonishing transformation from a developing country to an advanced economy within a few decades, it provides an excellent example for other less developed countries. But, firstly it is of great importance whether the success depends on the influence of international power structures or if its to owe the own strategies and reforms. The dependence and the interdependence theories are part of the power analysis. The introduction is followed by the description of the theories. After the theory the successful development of the South Korean economy is described. The fourth chapter implies the comparison with three other advanced economies and serves the improved discovery of the successful measures taken by the South Korean government. The fifth chapter contains the power analysis and decides whether the success depends on the international power structures. The sixth chapter is all about the situation in Sub-Saharan Africa and involves some recommendation from the South Korean example. At the end it should be clear what the successful strategies were and if they originated from the own force and possibilities.
